A Great Way to End 2010!

So if you didn’t already know, I was featured in the Quad City Times on Friday for my 125lbs weight loss. Deirdre interviewed me the beginning of December and a photographer came a took pictures of me working out a couple of weeks later. It was an awesome experience and waiting for the article to come out killed me.

Finally the 31st came around and I woke up at 7:15am with my first thought being ‘I have to go buy a paper today’. I woke B-Fry up and we headed to the gas station with some awesome bedhead going on. :) I picked up 3 copies and opened up to the health section. There I was, full-page! I got the biggest smile on my face and tried so hard not to cry while waiting to buy my papers. After purchasing out 6 copies, we made our way back to the apartment and both read the article. Must say I was rather impressed with it! My only issue being that it has taken me almost 2 years to lose all my weight, not 1 year. Oh well, guess it just makes me look more badass. ;)

Look! I'm Famous!

I got a lot of response about my article and was brought to tears several times on Friday. People kept saying I was inspiring them to get on a path to healthy living! My Weight Watchers leader emailed me the following email. It was by far one of the greatest things I heard that day.

Brooke!!!
Great article! I am so proud of you! I had a lady came in today who couldn’t sleep last night so she got up early and read the paper. She saw the article and come in today because of you! She shared that with the whole group! You will be an amazing ww leader some day…you are already inspiring people today. You better bring a pen on Tuesday to the meeting….you may be signing autographs! Happy New Year!!

The other great thing that happened was I tweeted the CEO of Weight Watchers the link to my article and told him that he should read about my success on Weight Watchers. Well, he tweeted me back and said my article was ‘Outstanding’!!! How awesome is that?! B-Fry and I were on our way to dinner and I screamed. I think I scared him a little. Lol. I never would have thought that he would actually take time out of his day to read it. Who knows, maybe he’ll be my connection to get into Weight Watchers magazine. :)

To top off my amazing day, B-Fry and I went to an amazing dinner at The Faithful Pilot in Le Claire. It was 5 courses of the most decadent food. Lobster for our appetizer, a yummy butternut squash soup, a delicious salad, wonderful entrees, and to die for desserts! I had the striped bass and risotto which was so creamy and flaky. And B-Fry had the New York strip with these mashed potatoes that had this crunchy outside that was so so good! Desserts were a french vanilla pudding with champagne poached pears and a chocolate soup with fresh berries. It really was a dining experience.

B-Fry and I rockin' what we both wore on our first date

After dinner we headed to the casino where I played blackjack for the first time. Usually I stand behind B-Fry and tell him when to hit and when to up his bet. Well, he decided to let me play for him for a bit. I ended up losing the $20, but had fun. :) We then came back to my apartment and played a game of Monopoly where B-Fry kicked my butt! And we rang in 2011 watching the ball drop on TV and were in bed by 12:30am. It was perfect!

B-Fry taking my money!

2010 ended on such a high note I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store!
