2013, I’m going to rock you!

If you could spare some time a go vote for me on Reduced Fat Girl’s blog, I would greatly appreciate it! You can vote as often as you like and I’m warning you now, I’ll probably hound you some more to vote for me. ;) Thank you!!

Hello 2013! Hard to believe it’s a new year already! 2012 was awesome and I’m rather excited to see what this year has in store! Mine and Mr. B’s New Year’s Eve was low-key, but nothing short of fun. We ate some delicious sushi, then when to my parent’s house where we played board games, enjoyed a few beverages, and rang in 2013 with my dad using his horn as a duck call. It was great!

Mr. B and I & My brother’s girlfriend, me, and my sister!

Yesterday we spend the day putting together our new kitchen island! I’m so excited to have this piece of furniture in our kitchen! More storage and counter space for me to pile things on to cook delicious meals!

Before I filled it and topped it with things!

Since it is the beginning of a new year, it’s only logical that I make out some goals I want to accomplish this year. I honestly have been feeling a little overwhelmed with it and have really been putting it off. There’s so much I want to do, but don’t know where to start. So, I’ve gotten an idea from Emily and Melissa about doing a word for the year.

My word:

Brooke: Not on A Diet: Word Of The Year: More

I want to:

  • Learn More- How to make my blog better, how to become an RD or Health Coach, a new hobby, recipes, and just how to better myself. Oh, I’d also like to learn how to do things with my hair since I’m hair stupid!
  • Move More- Exercise more, learn new exercises/workouts, and just moving more instead of sitting so much at work.
  • More Challenges- I will run a 5k this year! New fitness challenges, a being vegetarian/vegan for 30 days challenge, giving up pop, and maybe even a juicing challenge. Oh and I’d like to host another challenge since the Skinny Snowman one was so much fun! (Winners announced tomorrow!)
  • Love More- Random acts of kindness. More letters, phone calls, and I love yous. More dates with Mr. B instead of just regular ol’ eating out.
  • More Life- I want this year to be the year I try new things. Running a 5k, joining a book club, doing a mud run, learning how to ski, and just participating in life.
  • More Creativity- More crafting, card making, and scrapbooking. More reading and learning a new skill. Also, designing a new blog look!
  • Save More- Would love nothing more than to have a padded savings account and not having to rely on credit cards for some purchases. Need to work on the petty spending on things we don’t really need.

There you have it! More is the word I’m working on this year! What about you, what’s your word? Or what are your goals?

I'm going to rock 2013

Getting It Together To Reach Goal!

First off, thank you all so incredibly much for the kind and loving words on my post about loose skin. I was worried about posting it, but all the responses made it worth it. I am amazed every single day that my story helps, inspires, and gives a lot of you someone to relate to. Thank you so, so much for sticking this all out with me and being awesome! I puffy heart every single one of you! xoxo

At my Weight Watchers meeting, my leader and I began the ‘goal weight’ talk. To become a Lifetime Member, my weight needs to be between 164 and 132. Beings that I weighed in at 170 this week, I am SUPER close to my healthy weight range.

Let me have that sink in a bit….

Holy crap, after almost 4 years of being on Weight Watchers, I am super close to my healthy weight range. *mind blown*

Alright, my mind is done being blown. Time to get to business! I’ve decided that I need to really get my shit together if I want to get goal. Which means none of this half-assing it stuff. No more tracking half the week, wimpy workouts, and just being lazy with it all.

I really started thinking about this all  earlier this week, when I read a post from Ashley over at Coffee, Cake, and Cardio. She talked about what is keeping her at her current weight. She made a list of different things that are stalling her weight loss and has since posted it on her fridge. Which got me thinking about what is keeping me from hitting my goal weight.

It seems that over the last couple of weeks I have had sort of a mental block or something. I haven’t been giving the plan a full 100%,  my workouts haven’t been as good as they could be, and I just got out of a routine. So, I decided that I needed to make my own list.

Brooke: Not On A Diet: Why I'm Not At Goal

Obviously if I continue to do or not do these things, my goal weight will be further away. Quite frankly, I do not want that! I’ve been working incredibly too hard to not get there now and to get there much quicker because I’m not going to half-ass it anymore.

So, Mission: Goal is now in effect! I’ve set up a plan this week (my weeks with WW start on Thursdays) and I’ve decided to make this week my Simply Filling week. I am also aiming to earn 35 activity PointsPlus this week. Both of these things are taking some planning and extra work on my part.

Making a menu for Simply Filling was probably the most difficult and really made me think about food. It’s worth it though because I really feel like doing Simply Filling is going to help me pay attention to my hunger cues, which is something I haven’t really been doing. There are plenty of times where I’m just snacking because I have the PointsPlus allowance. So, I’m trying my best this week to really focus on those.

Earning 35 activity PointsPlus will be easy too if I start getting up at 5:15 in the morning again and putting in a full hour workout. I also need to make sure I’m moving more at work instead of plopping my butt down and not moving for hours at a time. I was doing good until I hurt my bicep/elbow, then I got too lax because I didn’t want to hurt myself again. Well, now I’m healed and taking the time to stretch what needs to be stretched, so there’s no reason I can’t go full force again!

Those are my plans of action for this week. I will rock it out!

I want to know, what is holding you back from hitting your goal weight?

December Goals

Um…where in the world did December come from? Wasn’t it just last week I was getting things ready for our wedding? Guess not. Lol.

November was an okay month around here. There were some great things along with some really crappy things. But we survived and made it to December! Let’s recap November’s goals and talk about what I’m going to work on in December!

BrookeNotOnADiet: November Goals

 - Drink 100 ounces of Water
I did pretty well for much of the month. There were about 5 days where it didn’t happen. So, I would say it was a win!

- Make a Weight Watchers Friendly Thanksgiving Dish
Done! I made these awesome cheddar garlic biscuits from Skinny Taste for BOTH Thanksgivings and they were a hit! And only 3PP per biscuit!

- Earn 20 Activity PointPlus a Week
Done! I rocked the activity!

- Create My Countdown to Christmas Challenge
This was the best goal I accomplished! I created the Skinny Snowman Challenge for you guys. It was a lot of work, but I’m super proud of it. The feedback I have gotten back is awesome and I’m so thankful that you all appreciate it so much!

Brooke: Not On A Diet's December Goals

- Complete the X-Mas Squat Challenge
Mel from The Daily Mel posted a squat challenge she found for the month of December. My butt can use all the lift it can get, so I’m playing along!

Here’s the challenge:

xmassquatchallenge

- Send Out Christmas Cards
I hope this goes much better than our wedding thank yous that just got sent last month. :)

- One Week Doing Simply Filling
I know that I can do SF for one day, now I want to shoot for one week!

- Get Glasses
Back in May I had my eye exam and got contacts (finally), but there are times I don’t want to wear my contacts. So, I need to get some cute glasses to rock on those days!

- Bake Something Yummy
I love to bake (just incase you didn’t know) and last month I did some awesome cupcakes for my cousin’s baby shower. This month I want to try something new. I haven’t decided if I want cookies or something else. I’m sure I can find something on my Pinterest!

What are you wanting to work on this month?
