If you’re a fitness or weight loss blogger, you know how awesome this community can be. It was made quite apparent last week at Fitblogginwhen there were a lot of hugs and kind words going around. We understand each other. We know what it is like to fall off the wagon, what it is like to have an injury that can hold us back, how awesome it is to hit a weight loss milestone, and how crappy it is when we have a gain.
All you have to do is blog, Facebook, or Tweet about it and you’ll get a response from someone or multiple someones who know exactly what you’re going through.
Last night I sent out one of those tweets. Yesterday I got my first mean comment. I’ve been blogging almost two years without one, but I knew it was bound to happen. I mean, haters gonna hate.
Basically the comment boils down to that I’m not a fit blogger and no one likes a fat bride. Whatever dude….
So, I sent out a tweet that said:
Well I just got my first ever hateful comment on my blog. Thanks ‘paul’. Apparently no one loves a fat bride, good thing I’m not fat!

I was quickly tweeted back with awesome comments!
Kenz (@alltheweigh) Uh…you’re adorable, and you’re going to make a beautiful bride!
Renee (@pinkypie) jesus seriously?? WTF is wrong with people??? You are BEAUTIFUL now, before &surely in your future.
Paula (@paulylagordita) you are gorgeous my dear!
Brenda (@longdoglover) what a jerk. But nasty comments always hurt. As I said. Jerk. Hugs to you
Liz (@elizawhat) Print it out and frame it; you know you’ve made it when you’ve got trolls.
Shauna (@shauna) sorry to hear about the comment, BOO!
some real fuckwits out there.
Not to mention the countless awesome comments on Facebook. A lot of nice things have been said. And it has taken a cruddy situation and turned it into a better one.
I’m not going to lie, the comment stung at first. But then I realize that that person is obviously just unhappy in their own life. And quite frankly, if you don’t like what I post about, don’t read me. But that’s not the point of this post.
The point is that this community ROCKS! And I’m so glad that I’m a part of it and you have all welcomed me with open arms. If you’re a part of it, you know what I mean. We’re all understanding and are always there to offer support where needed.
Thanks for all the awesome feedback you’ve given me over the last couple of years!
