I don’t talk about my job much here on the blog, but in a nutshell I work in a house where 4 men with mental illness (bipolar, schizophrenia, etc) live. The purpose of my job is to be a support for them and teach them the skills they need to eventually live on their own. Sometimes I am super busy with appointments, grocery shopping, and being an errand girl. Most of the time though, my job involves a lot of sitting.

A LOT! Sitting watching TV, sitting reading a book, sitting playing cards, sitting just because there isn’t a dang thing to do because everyone is sleeping.

I honestly probably sit an average of 5 hours a day at work, more on boring days, less on more exciting ones. It’s horrible for me and I definitely notice my back bugging me on the days I’m sitting too much.

The thing is though, I don’t have the motivation to get moving. It is much more easy to just sit and not move, but we all know that doing so is not good for the body. So, I got something to motivate me to move my butt!

I’m totally motivated by goals that I set for myself and numbers. It is why I love my ActiveLink. Seeing those lights light up totally gets me going. Lol. I figured since that encourages to me to move more, then a pedometer should do the same!

I picked this one up at Target for about $15. I picked this one up because it also counts mileage, which will be interesting to see what all my walking adds up to. I’m not too worried about calories since this will just be everyday walking and not exactly walking as an activity.

This one also lets you set a daily goal to reach. You can do anywhere from 1,000 to 99,000 steps as your goal. I set mine on the low side this week since I’m just getting started and think that the goal I set will be a huge improvement from what I was doing. I plan on increasing it as the weeks go by, but for now we will see what this goal brings!

It will be interesting to see what it takes for me to hit this goal. I know that I will have to move much more than I have been at work. It will probably mean that I’ll be pacing the living room to get my steps in and my clients will probably wonder if I shouldn’t be living in one of their houses too. But, I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle and inspiring those around me, so maybe I’ll inspire them to move more. Probably not, but a girl can dream, right? (I’m still trying to convince a client that corn dogs are NOT a form of vegetable…lol) I do know that one of my clients enjoys going for walks, so maybe I can get him to go on a few with me. We shall see!

I’m excited to work towards this step goal and increasing it. Who knows, maybe I’ll be one of those ‘crazy’ people who aim for 10,000 a day! (Ya’ll rock!)

What about you? Do you make an effort to move more at work?

Are you motivated by fitness tools? If so, what’s your fave?

Happy Monday all! I hope you all had a great weekend and took some time to enter my Nayonaise giveaway! You have just a couple of more days to enter! So, go do so now!

Our weekend here at the Not On A Diet household was a good one! Friday Mr. B played dek hockey and we went out to dinner with my parents and brother afterward their big win.

Saturday started off with a sweat session with Jillian’s 6 Week 6 Pack DVD. We have finished the first week now! It is getting a little bit easier, but most definitely still has difficulty to it!

After a low-key morning, we got all fancy to attend a wedding reception. My best friend from high school, Jenny’s sister got married. Since Jenny lives in Washington state, I wasn’t going to miss a chance to see her and her husband, Matt.

We stopped by my aunt and uncle’s house beforehand and visited a bit with them. I love going there, my aunt has the coolest house! Her dining room is completely dedicated to Frida Kahlo! It’s pure awesome.

We then made our way to the reception. I was sorta nervous about it because I knew there would be people there I hadn’t seen since I graduated high school 10 years ago. (holy crap, where did time go?!) I wasn’t ready for awkward conversations and would much rather not see those people. Lol.

We sat down and waited for Matt and Jenny to show up so then we’d have someone to hang with. Since Jenny was the Matron of Honor, Matt sat with us and Mr. B and him talked practically the whole entire time about beer. Oh and about our upcoming trip to see them in July! All the talk about the trip makes me want it here NOW!

Matt, Jenny, Me, and Mr. B

The night was great and I had way too many drinks for my now tiny frame, which of course made me a bit more brave than without the liquid courage. I ended up going up to one of the groomsman that I knew from high school and starting a conversation. He had no idea who I was, so I told him and the look on his face was priceless.

I was also stopped by a blog reader at the reception who congratulated me on hitting my goal weight. First time that has happened to me. Pretty awesome!

Then Jenny, April (a girl we went to high school went), and I decided we would get together the two guys that were there from our graduating class and take a picture. We were joking that it would be out 10 year reunion class picture. So, we grabbed the guys and got ready for the picture.

You could clearly tell they wasn’t sure who I was. So, I asked them if they did and they responded “no.” I smiled and said “Brooke Bomia.” They did a double take, the picture was taken, and we parted ways.

Afterwards, I could see them calling over the other guys that went to our high school and pointing at me. One of the guys looked at me and mouthed “Brooke Bomia?” and I just shook my head yes and gave him a thumbs up. Then Mr. B walked up and I was sure to give him a kiss.

Not gonna lie, it felt pretty awesome. I never needed their approval, but it was great to show them that they were wrong about me in high school. That I wasn’t just some overweight lesbian. I was just a girl who didn’t fit in and comforted herself with food.

Channeling my inner Avril Lavigne.

Last night there were probably just talking about how hot I looked and how I bagged me a hot ass hubby!

I’m all for the shock and awe factor.

What about you? Are you not recognized now?

Do you stay in touch with people you went to high school with?

Jenny is the only person I talk to on a regular basis. I have some others as friends on Facebook, but no one I talk to. Which I’m completely okay with. A lot of people were fake or mean in high school. But, I feel like that’s what high school is all about, just trying to look ‘cool’ and trying to ‘fit in.’

GIVEAWAY CLOSED! THANKS FOR ALL WHO ENTERED!

Last month the kind folks over at Nasoya sent me some jars of their Nayonaise! Nayonaise is an egg & dairy free version of mayo. They were super awesome and sent me a jar of the regular stuff and a jar of their new whipped version.

Sadly, when I got the package, the whipped jar was broken!

Sad face!

After a quick email, they gladly sent me another 2 jars of the whipped Nayonaise! Luckily, they both were in GREAT condition!

Now, I don’t talk about it much but I love me some mayo! I use it on burgers, to dip my fries in, and even in my bang-bang sauce for my shrimp. I love the stuff.

I was a bit apprehensive, but I’m all about trying new things. And since I have decided to go mostly dairy free, I thought this could be a good way to replace my regular mayo.

When I first opened it up, I thought the consistency of the regular Nayonaise to be a bit odd. After stirring it around, it seemed a bit better. It isn’t as ‘smooth’ and is a bit thicker than the regular stuff.

But, that has no effect on the taste. In fact, I really enjoyed the taste. It obviously isn’t going to taste exactly like mayo with eggs & dairy, but it is pretty close. The Nayonaise has a hint of lemon to it which I really enjoyed.

I have used it on burgers, in tuna salad, and of course in my bang-bang sauce. It worked in all of those things just fine as a replacement to the old mayo I used to use.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t tired the whipped version yet because I just don’t find the need to have two jars of Nayonaise open in my fridge. Especially when I’m the only one eating it. (Mr. B is not a fan at all, but he’s weird. )

The stats on the stuff isn’t too bad either:

And the ingredients are pretty good too! I love that it has added B-12 since that is a vitamin a lot of people who give up meat lack. Now I know it’s not a total replacement for a B-12 supplement, but glad to see they are looking out for us.

All in all I find this to be a great replacement if you’re looking to move to an egg & dairy free mayo. It will make your burger happy!

Oh, since I have an extra jar of the whipped stuff sitting around, I’m going to send it to one of my lucky readers!

Last week I finished my Turbo Fire challenge and hinted that Mr. B and I would soon be starting a new one. We started last week, but between dek hockey games, me hitting goal, and a visitation, we didn’t sick with it.

So, we are giving it another go this week!

What’s the DVD challenge you ask? Well after doing Turbo Fire with Chalene, I was totally missing my girl Jillian! She is definitely my favorite trainer and I love every DVD of hers I have laid my hand on.

This time around we are going to give her 6 Week 6 Pack DVD a try!

The plan is to do the DVD 3-4 days a week for 6 weeks. Level 1 for 3 weeks and level 2 for 3 weeks. I will be doing other workouts on the other days and have decided to pull out an old Best Body Bootcamp workout plan to do.

I haven’t been doing much strength training since starting the Turbo Fire challenge and miss it. So, doing BBB will help incorporate that for sure. Now that I have hit goal, I am looking to shrink my body fat percentage. I want to be ripped!

I also need a routine with my activity. It seems that I finish a challenge and then hit a bit of a slump. This happens mostly because I just don’t have a plan. And as the saying goes: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!

Lucky for me, failure is NOT an option!

I’m pretty excited for this new DVD challenge and super stoked that Mr. B is joining in. I have tried to get him to take part in my challenges before but he never seemed into it. But, he is all for this one. Guess he wants to be looking good for vacation in June/July.

Now I know that won’t be graced with a six-pack thanks to my loose skin, but I am excited to see if it will help shrink some of the stuff going on there. Mr. B on the other hand could be rocking one at the end of the challenge.

Here are our before pics! And ladies, don’t oogle a Mr. B too much! He’s mine!

We shall see where we are in 6 weeks!

Have you done this DVD before? Thoughts?

I woke up yesterday knowing that it was THE DAY. I made sure I looked my best because there would be pictures.

Yesterday at work dragged! I could not wait to get out of there and get to my meeting because I just KNEW I was hitting goal. I knew even though I haven’t being weighing daily. A little doubt would creep up, but I’d tell it to shut its mouth, that I TOTALLY had this.

Finally I was out of work and rushed home to grab Mr. B. Who then kindly informed me that my in-laws would be coming to my meeting too. I already knew my mom was coming, but had no idea that my own personal posse would be there to cheer me on at the scale.

We sat waiting for what seemed like FOREVER, but was in all reality less than 5 minutes. Haha. I corralled everyone into the building and waited for Becky’s scale to be open.

Then I stepped on the scale. And it said 151, then my dress and jewelry came off. Then it said 150.2. So, I did what any woman UTTERLY determined to hit goal would do.

I took off my bra.

So, I stood there on the scale in just a tank top and leggings and the scale read this:

And my reaction was this:

I freaking did it!! I hit goal!! I quickly went and put back on my clothing and pictures happened.

My amazing leader, Becky! She’s been with me pretty much through it all! I love her!

Then I made Mr. B hop on the scale with me. I have lost pretty much him in weight. My starting weight was 327.6. I love this picture! I used to be the size of a grown woman AND man!

After pictures, it was time for my meeting to start. I spent time in the front row (where I always sit) and silently cried. I couldn’t believe that I had hit my goal. After 4 years I had finally done it. Becky made me speak and show off my before picture. Then my mom and mother-in-law came up to give me something.

They have been holding on to this for a couple of months now waiting for me to hit my goal. And last night they finally got to give it to me!

My posse left and the meeting continued. After the meeting, Mr. B was waiting in the parking lot with a gift for me. When I was getting closer to goal I told him that all I wanted was a Kate Spade purse. I would hit up Von Maur and just ogle over the purses. Well, last night, he gave me this:

I have literally worked my ass off for this! I cannot wait to carry it and look at it knowing that I earned it! Isn’t it so pretty?

The rest of the night was spent at Mr. B’s dek hockey game which I could hardly pay attention to because my phone was just blowing up with all sorts of love from everyone. When I went to bed last night I had the hardest time falling asleep because I just didn’t want all the excitement to end. But, I woke up this morning and Mr. B promised me that I’m still awesome.

I’m still in shock a bit and have had moments of sporadic crying after an overwhelming feeling of emotion. I’m sure it’ll be that way for today for a bit. This is so awesome.

I want you all to know that I cannot thank you guys enough for all your support throughout my journey over the years. You’ve been with me for ups, downs, and all sorts of amazing things. If I could give each and every one of you a hug, I would. You all deserve it!

I freaking love you guys!!

I’m a fucking AFTER!!!! AHHHH!!

I posted a picture of this recipe last week on my Instagram and you all begged me for a recipe. Let me tell you, these are good! Not only good, but SUPER simple to make! The coleslaw is totally optional too, but for me there is just something amazing about BBQ topped with coleslaw.

This was for sure the perfect fix for a BBQ pulled pork craving! Much more healthy too!

BBQ Portobello Sandwiches w/ Chipotle Coleslaw

Serves 4 w/ extra slaw leftover
PointPlus Value varies on the sauce you use

For coleslaw:

¼ onion, sliced
1 to 1 ½ chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, chopped (depends on how spicy you want it)
¾ cup fat-free mayo
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
¼ tsp salt
1 bag coleslaw mix

Spray a pan with cooking spray and put on med-high heat. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Meanwhile, add your peppers, mayo, vinegar, and salt to a blender. After your onion has cooked, add to blender. Blend dressing ingredients until well blended. Put coleslaw mix into a large bowl, pour dressing over top, and mix well. Store in fridge for at least an hour.

For sandwiches:

2 large Portobello mushrooms, sliced
½ large onion, sliced
Salt & Pepper to taste
½ cup BBQ sauce of your choice
4 light hamburger buns

Spray pan with cooking spray and put on med-high heat. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add your mushrooms, salt, and pepper, cook for about 10 minutes. Turn your heat to low and add you sauce, simmer for another 5-7 minutes until everything is soft and cook thoroughly.

To assemble sandwiches:

Open up your buns and spray them lightly with cooking spray, put them on a baking sheet and toast them under the oven broiler until lightly toasted. Top with mushroom mixture, then with coleslaw. Dig in and enjoy!

Are you a coleslaw lover?
I am! My dad and I alway judge coleslaw when we have it. I’d say we are coleslaw connoisseurs.

Another great workout video challenge has come to an end! This past Saturday was the last day of my Turbo Fire challenge. I won’t lie, I’m glad it is over! Not because I didn’t like Turbo Fire, but because I was just kind of getting sick of it. Lol.

90 Days is a super long time for a challenge and since I have exercise ADD, it didn’t help. Towards the end it became much more easy to skip out on workouts and do something else. There were a couple of days that I did some Jillian DVDs along with them because I just didn’t feel like doing parts of the Turbo Fire workouts. Also, my foot injury put a damper on the challenge and made it hard to get back into my full groove after it was healed.

But for the most part, I did all the Turbo Fire workouts, which I am a pretty big fan of! These past 30 days reintroduced the HIIT workouts, which are some of my favorites. I love that they are short, but still super tough.

My all time favorite workout though was Fire 45, it had some really fun moves and great music. I can be caught singing “Boom I got your boyfriend” at various time throughout my day. I never really became a fan of the Fire 55 video though. Not because it was tough or the music sucked, it actually had some great moves too. But, for some reason the thought of 55 minutes of cardio seemed daunting to me. I probably wouldn’t have thought anything about it if it was labeled differently, totally a psychological thing. Lol.

I also lost my interest in the sculpting and toning videos after a few times of doing them. I just didn’t feel like I was getting a good enough ‘burn’ from the resistance bands. So a few times I skipped them and did Jillian’s Ripped in 30 instead. I’m sure if I would have gotten a stronger band it would have helped, but the one that came with the kit sure wasn’t enough for me towards the end.

All in all I did really enjoy Turbo Fire and the different types of workouts. I will be incorporating them into my regular workout schedule for cardio and will totally be doing the HIIT when I need a quick workout.

PROS:

* The music is great and really upbeat. Since you were doing a different video everyday, you really didn’t get sick of the music like in a Jillian DVD
* Chalene was super encouraging throughout the workouts and not ‘mean.’
* There was a girl (Ali), who always showed you the low impact version of the moves which helped when I was dealing with my foot injury.
* The moves were easy to follow after a few times and learning the terminology. There were also breakdowns of each Fire workout to learn the moves too, which helped a lot.

CONS:

* I am not a fan of workout DVDs that show a countdown timer. Sometimes I felt like I’d check it every 30 seconds on days I just didn’t feel like working out. There were also days where I didn’t even pay attention to it.
* The sculpting and toning videos were fine in the beginning, but soon didn’t seem challenging enough
* I didn’t like how the core video didn’t make an appearance in the last 30 days.
* There was one annoying chick who was in the front row of the videos who seemed WAY to energized to be doing the workouts. Lol
* Sometimes Chalene said some really cheesy things, but by the end I was saying them along with her.

All in all it is a great workout program and I do recommend it for anyone who already has been exercising for a while. The only workouts you may have trouble doing would be the HIIT videos. But, in the book you get with the program, there is a 9 week prep workout schedule that helps get you prepared for the HIIT workouts. I also totally suggest wearing shoes, at least during HIIT because you don’t want to end up with a foot injury like me. Although I will say that moving around on the carpet is tough with shoes. But, I got over it.

Now here’s the part you’ve all really been waiting for….results!

Final measurements:

Calf: 15 1/4″
Thigh: 20″
Hips: 38″
Waist: 30″
Arm: 11″
Bust: 34″
Weight: 151.8

I lost a total of 9 inches and 11 pounds! Pretty freaking impressive if you ask me! My stomach looks much more tight to me which makes me extremely happy and my butt looks great!

My next challenge will be announced next week and this one Mr. B will be joining me! Can’t wait to share with you guys!

In case you didn’t know I’m attending the awesome Fitbloggin’ Conference in June. I am pretty excited and will be rooming with two awesome ladies, Kelly from Curvy Fit Girl and Dacia from Run Ride Repeat. Crazy fact about us, we have ALL lost over 100lbs with Weight Watchers! Woot!

A little over a week ago, Kelly mentioned on her Twitter that she was thinking of giving up her scale for the week and only weighing in at meetings. I quickly responded and told her I would join in. I know how hard it is not to weigh yourself daily and letting that weight affect you day. I figured the challenge would be beneficial to me and everyone loves a partner to play along with! Soon after than, Dacia tweeted she’d join us too.

Fitbloggers who room together, stick together!

This past week was our first week and we all did it! Not going to lie, it was super tough. Especially since I’m SOOOOOO close to goal.

Only 3.2lbs away!

I’m the type of person who gets up in the morning, pees, and hops on the scale. Then whatever that scale says can sometimes effect how my day is going to go. It the number is lower than I expected, then I’m in a good mood. If it’s higher than what I think it should be, then I can be in a cruddy mood.

It’s silly, I know. I’ve said it a million times before, the scale does NOT define who I am. It is just a number and there are a so many other factors that matter more. Like how I feel physically, how happy I am with my food choices, and how great I look in my jeans. Those things matter much more than a silly number on the scale. But, I still let it control me from time to time.

Well not anymore! I’m going to only weigh in at my weekly Weight Watchers meeting and not every morning. I’m not going to let a silly number on the scale affect my mood daily. I’m going to judge it by the way I wake up feeling physically and mentally.

After a week of doing it, I am getting used to not doing my morning ritual. But, it doesn’t mean it is getting easier. Like I said before, being thisclose to goal makes it super challenging. I want to monitor my weight like a hawk to know when it is going to happen. I want to scream and shout the second I hit it, like I did when I finally hit Onderland. So, not being able to do that is tough and kind of a mental battle at times.

Yet, I’m remaining strong! As are my partners in no daily weigh-in crime. We have decided to extend our challenge to Fitbloggin’ in June. We’ve totally got this!

A couple of weeks ago, I asked on my Facebook page for you guys to post some questions you had for me. I answered one on Saturday on how to get your water in with some fun phone apps. Today, I’m going to address some of the more basic questions you guys asked.

Q: What kind of exercise can I do besides running to lose weight?

- Well, there are ALL sorts of exercises to lose weight. Running is always going to be a great form of cardio, but there’s also biking (my fave), the eliptical, swimming, and countless fitness DVDs. I’m a fan of anything Jillian Michaels does and also a few of the Biggest Loser DVDs (especially the Weight Loss Yoga one). You also cannot forget about the countless classes out there! Zumba is of course one of my favorites!

Along with cardio, strength training is a great way to build muscle which will help you burn fat and lose weight along with inches. A lot of Jillian’s DVDs incorporate some strength training, but there are countless exercises you can do. There are free weights, resistance bands, and even your own body weight to help you tone up. You can do pushups, sit up, lunges, bicep curls, bent over rows, and so much more. Looking for a better butt? Then try a squat challenge. Or maybe you want badass biceps, then give the 100 pushup challenge a try!

Seriously, any movement you do is going to help you lose weight. Sometimes I just turn up my music loud and dance around like a mad woman!

Q: How many calories daily are ideal?

- I do not have a right answer for this. I do not count calories since I follow Weight Watchers’ Simply Filling Plan. I do know that websites like My Fitness Pal can help you figure out what will work for you. But, as always your doctor or a registered dietitain would be the best person to answer your question.

Q: Did you ever struggle with closet eating?

- This is actually something I really haven’t talked about much on my blog. I have suffered from it in the past. I remember as a teen eating a whole other meal after everyone had gone to bed. Along with plenty of times when I worked third shift where I would eat a whole pint of Ben & Jerry’s, several candy bars, a fast food meal, along with other countless empty calories. I worked alone, so there was no one around to see the damage I would do. I was super unhappy with myself during those times and my eating totally mirrored that.

I learned to work through it though. I have learned to deal with my emotions in other ways rather than eating to shut them up. Now I remind myself that food won’t fix whatever the problem may be.It doesn’t always work, because sometimes I will find myself heading to the kitchen to binge on something. But after a few bites, I take a step back and remind myself how far I have come and that I’m better than that.

It has been a total learning process and will most likely be something I will always deal with. If you’re looking for some great reading on binge eating, go check out my friend Emily at Fit & Free with Emily. She has a binge eating series that is phenomenal!

Q: Have you experienced muscle cramps? If so, how did you handle them?

- Muscle cramps SUCK! I get them in my calves and thighs sometimes. They are usaually a result of me not stretching enough. They can also be a result of not drinking enough water! I deal with them by just waiting them out and screaming to Mr. B how badly it hurts.

Q: What did you eat in the beginning when you first started losing weight?

- Great question! Believe it or not, I didn’t hop right on the eating healthy train. In the beginning I relied a lot on Smart One meals and other quick processed things. Then I started making it a goal to try a new recipe a week, which slowly got me cooking more. Now I cook all the time and rarely rely on those quick fixes, although those are still great to have on night where you just don’t feel like cooking!

I say try to cook more and try new foods. You may be shocked that foods you thought you hated, you may actually enjoy!

Well there you have it! My first Q & A post! There were a couple of other queistions, but those will be seperate post because I have a lot to say on those topics.

I wanna know, is this something you would like to see more of? If so, post your questions below or email me via my contact tab! Feel free to ask me anything from my favorite color (red) to my favorite after workout snack! I’m going to try for this once a month!

Thanks you all for your positive response on the flooding issue at the Not On A Diet household and how I’m controlling my stress eating. Luckily Mr. B and his grandparents did a great job getting a lot of the water out! We ran pumps all night and it seems to be getting better. Thank goodness for that! Oh and instead of eating my feelings, I rocked out an awesome workout that left me looking like this:

Felt awesome!

So, last week on my Facebook page, I asked you guys to ask me some questions and mention things you were struggling with. I got a lot of great responses and plan on tackling them throughout the next few weeks! Today I’m going to tackle a struggle that a lot of you seem to have.

Getting in your water!

I too, have struggled with this in the past and still have days where it is tough to get in my daily intake. It has gotten much easier though due to some very awesome apps I have discovered! Before we get to said awesome phone apps, let’s talk about why water is important and how much you should be consuming daily!

Did you know that our body is made up of 50-75% water? Water is essential in making our body function properly. It also makes your skin look better, your joints move smoother, and can even help shrink your waistline!

There is a lot of debate on how much water you should drink. Since I follow the Weight Watchers program, I follow their recommendation of 64oz daily. But, since I am more active, I actually consume about 100oz a day. I found a handy hydration calculator that you can use and find how much you should be drinking a day! (Here) The handy phone apps I have on my iPhone 5 also have calculators and daily recommendations. They both suggest I drink around 100oz daily also. That’s the number I’m comfortable with drinking daily, so that’s what I do.

Of course it is ultimately up to you how much you drink daily. If you are new to drinking water, you may want to shoot for a bit less and then work your way up. When I started my journey, I very rarely drank water and would suffer from HORRIBLE headaches. Now if I am a bit lax on getting in my daily intake, I can start to suffer from one of those headaches. That’s reason enough to keep up on guzzling!

So, how do I make sure I’m getting my daily intake in?

Well, there’s an app for that!

I have two that I have used and one that I use constantly now. One is free and available for Android devices as well as the iPhone. The other is a paid app and is currently only available for the iPhone.

Waterlogged
-Free
-Available for Android & iPhone

I was introduced to this app by Dani who kept posting about her 100oz Challenge on Instagram. I love this app because it is easy to use and of course because it is FREE! There is also a paid version, but the free one gets the job done.

You enter what you want your daily goal to be in ounces, millilitres, or liters. And an empty glass appears on the main screen. When you drink some high quality H2O, you click “Record Drink” and up pops some options. There are pictures of a water bottle and a glass that you can tap on and the ‘fill’ your glass.

If these two choices do not work for you, you can add your own! You tap the green plus sign and a screen comes up where you can take a picture of your trusty water bottle or glass. Then you add the volume of the container you added. Then that comes up as one of your choices.

You keep on adding your water as you drink it and when you reach your goal it pops up with a window that says Congratulations!

I like this app because of its simplicity and because I like being told that I am successful when I hit a goal.

Plant Nanny
-$.99
– Available for iPhone only

This is hands down one of the cutest apps to log your water EVER! The basic concept of the app is you are given a plant and you are to water it with your intake and make it grow.

You start off with a dandelion bud to water and grow up to a cute lil guy that looks like this:

Just like Waterlogged, there are several bottle options to choose from. You get to tell it how many ounces are in the bottle you use. Then you choose the one you the most and it stays on the home screen. When you finish a bottle, you just press and hold onto the bottle icon. Each ounce of water gets you closer to a new level of your plant growing to a new level. When you finish all the levels, you move your plant to your garden.

Each day you meet your water goal, you get ‘seeds’ to use towards other plants. This is a fairly new feature and I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. So, I can’t really say much about it. Although they added some cute looking new plants to water.

If you don’t meet your goal, then your plant can die. I haven’t had one die on me, but my cactus last week did come quite close to death!

If that sad little face doesn’t make you want to drink your water, I don’t know what will! It sort of reminds me when I had a Giga Pet (you MUST watch this!) and would care for that cat like it was a real living animal. Hey, if it helps me with my water intake, I’m okay with it!

I do prefer the Plant Nanny app more because it is more interactive. I like that you have a ‘living’ thing to take care of and if you don’t, it dies. And well, that’s just sad! I also like the new feature they added to gaining seeds each day to use towards a fancy plant. It makes it more game like and any time you can turn something healthy into a game, it’s a win!

Let’s chat below!
