I’m an after!

I woke up yesterday knowing that it was THE DAY. I made sure I looked my best because there would be pictures. ;)

Yesterday at work dragged! I could not wait to get out of there and get to my meeting because I just KNEW I was hitting goal. I knew even though I haven’t being weighing daily. A little doubt would creep up, but I’d tell it to shut its mouth, that I TOTALLY had this.

Finally I was out of work and rushed home to grab Mr. B. Who then kindly informed me that my in-laws would be coming to my meeting too. I already knew my mom was coming, but had no idea that my own personal posse would be there to cheer me on at the scale.

We sat waiting for what seemed like FOREVER, but was in all reality less than 5 minutes. Haha. I corralled everyone into the building and waited for Becky’s scale to be open.

Then I stepped on the scale. And it said 151, then my dress and jewelry came off. Then it said 150.2. So, I did what any woman UTTERLY determined to hit goal would do.

I took off my bra.

So, I stood there on the scale in just a tank top and leggings and the scale read this:

I freaking did it!! I hit goal!! I quickly went and put back on my clothing and pictures happened.

Then I made Mr. B hop on the scale with me. I have lost pretty much him in weight. My starting weight was 327.6. I love this picture! I used to be the size of a grown woman AND man!

After pictures, it was time for my meeting to start. I spent time in the front row (where I always sit) and silently cried. I couldn’t believe that I had hit my goal. After 4 years I had finally done it. Becky made me speak and show off my before picture. Then my mom and mother-in-law came up to give me something.

They have been holding on to this for a couple of months now waiting for me to hit my goal. And last night they finally got to give it to me!

My posse left and the meeting continued. After the meeting, Mr. B was waiting in the parking lot with a gift for me. When I was getting closer to goal I told him that all I wanted was a Kate Spade purse. I would hit up Von Maur and just ogle over the purses. Well, last night, he gave me this:

I have literally worked my ass off for this! I cannot wait to carry it and look at it knowing that I earned it! Isn’t it so pretty? ;)

The rest of the night was spent at Mr. B’s dek hockey game which I could hardly pay attention to because my phone was just blowing up with all sorts of love from everyone. When I went to bed last night I had the hardest time falling asleep because I just didn’t want all the excitement to end. But, I woke up this morning and Mr. B promised me that I’m still awesome. ;)

I’m still in shock a bit and have had moments of sporadic crying after an overwhelming feeling of emotion. I’m sure it’ll be that way for today for a bit. This is so awesome.

I want you all to know that I cannot thank you guys enough for all your support throughout my journey over the years. You’ve been with me for ups, downs, and all sorts of amazing things. If I could give each and every one of you a hug, I would. You all deserve it!

Yesterday I talked about my new eating style and I must say that I’m quite happy with my choices so far this week. It isn’t quite as difficult at doing completely meatless since I’m still eating fish. My eats for the week were pretty spot on except for Saturday where Mr. B and I went out for sushi. But, I’m happy with it all.

I’m probably going to gain this week though. Especially since I’m not exercising very much due to my foot. I know I said I was going to start doing Turbo Fire again this past week, but I was still having some foot issues and decided to put that off for another week. I did do some walking and a couple of sessions of Zumba Rush on Xbox Kinect. My foot is still a bit sore, but nothing like it was. I will try to attempt Turbo Fire this week and see how it goes. All I know is I’m so ready to get back to my regular workout routine! I am so missing getting a good sweat on! And this is the only time I have regretted NOT having a gym membership because I know being in the pool would be beneficial. Oh well, just going to keep on trucking along and listening to my body!

Any exciting eats for you this week?

I want to leave you with something fun and cute this week! Last Friday was my grandmother’s 85th birthday! Last year around this time she wasn’t doing so well and has been living in a nursing home. She has her good days and bad days. Saturday she was on a roll and made us laugh a lot. Love that lady!

(No this is my papa, this is just a guy at the nursing home she has become quite fond of. It’s pretty much the cutest thing ever!)

Lastly, I want to leave you with a video of my grandmama singing the ‘dirty’ addition to her birthday song. An 85-year-old woman saying bastards is quite funny. ;)

Lacto-ovo-pesca-vegetarian….what?

Mr. B and I finished up our Meatless March challenge just last week. We posted a recap about our experience and left it as we would probably start incorporating meat again, but not as often as we used to.

We had shrimp on Monday and cod on Tuesday with no issue. On Wednesday I decided to make nachos with some ground turkey.

Mmmm…Nacho goodness!

About an hour later we were both in major stomach pain and not feeling so hot. It was terrible and probably the worst stomach pain I have had since the last time I binged on a bunch of crap. Totally not a feeling I want to ever experience again. Mr. B dealt with it when he ate some steak on Friday too.

So, what does this mean?

Well, I for one will not be eating any more red meat or poultry. I don’t care to have that stomach pain ever again. I also do not want to be putting things into my body that really don’t belong there. And of course I just don’t think animals need to be treated the way they are being treated to make their way to my dinner plate.

I will still be eating seafood (not giving up my sushi!), eggs(plan on purchasing farm fresh from the farmer’s market), and some dairy. I would eventually like to cut out all dairy, as I already drink almond milk. But giving up cheese and sour cream is scary. If there are any suggestions you have, that would be great!

All this makes me a lacto-ovo-pescetarian!

What is that you wonder? Well, it’s a combo of 3 different types of vegetarianism. Lacto vegetarians are ones that still eat dairy, ovo vegetarians still eat eggs, and pesca vegetarians still enjoy seafood. All three of them sum up my eating habits from now on.

I don’t plan on being hardcore about it because quite frankly that’s just not the lifestyle I want. (although this may change in the future) I am going to do my best to avoid the things that will make me feel icky though, because that is what matters most to me.

Mr. B is with me on this too, although he will probably indulge in the occasional steak and then complain to me about it being a bad idea. ;) I’m glad to have him along though because I feel it would be tough if he wasn’t. I’m so lucky to have a supportive spouse! There are a few people who think we’re silly for doing this, but we also have a lot of people who are cheering us on. Heck, I even got my sister doing the same! (Go Sissy Linn!)

Since this is becoming an actual lifestyle around here, I will be doing some more reading and learning about how to sustain this lifestyle. I want to make sure that we are healthy and not relying on all of the frozen meatless products. I also plan on sharing things I learn with you guys. So, stick around and see where this new lifestyle takes us and learn a thing or two along the way!
