I’ve tried to write my thoughts about Fitbloggin’ several times, but I always end up staring at a blank screen and fighting back tears.
How can I put into words a conference that means so much to me? A weekend where I can get together with ‘my people’ and just be me. (I’m always me, I just don’t have the people to be me around) A weekend filled with so much laughter, many hugs, tears, and just all around awesomeness. There were so many amazing moments at Fitbloggin’ and I’m going to try my best to sum them all up. But, I am having the hardest time doing just that. So, bear with me as I try to make sense of the greatness that is Fitbloggin’!
After a very frustrating travel day (delayed flights and luggage), I arrived and saw a woman standing by baggage claim with a shirt that had a blog mentioned on the back. I walked up to her and asked her if she was there for Fitbloggin’. Luckily, Kris said yes and didn’t find me crazy! I rode the train with her and she was kind enough to let me crash her room until my roomies arrived.
I finally got to meet Renee, who I was so excited to meet. Renee has been around here for a while and has always been a huge support in my journey. I actually teared up when I got to hug her. She’s one amazing lady. I also met Pauly, who was the kind woman to send me Turbo Fire. She was so sweet and I actually spent quite a bit of time with her! (She even got to meet Mr. B!)
I met more amazing people at the welcoming/name tag party. I felt internet famous when I met Andre from Mission Meltdown. I introduced myself and he replied “Oh, I know who you are. I read you.” Got a good chuckle out of that!
Friday was filled with some great sessions, including one that Kelly and Dani put on about dealing with your before when you reach your after. I really needed that session. There are still some things I deal with thanks to my former fat girl mindset (should really write about this!) and I talked about it and cried. But, it was great to be among others who totally understood where I was coming from. I finally got my luggage that afternoon and had my first food truck experience, too!
There was the Ignite Fitness reception that night where I got to hug and drink with more fabulous people! Everyone is exactly how I thought they would be, which was great. I even sang some karaoke that night and had a good time!
Saturday I participated in yoga, which sadly was the only exercise my broken toe would let me do. There was also an impromptu Weight Watchers meeting with a bunch of us. It was fun to chat with everyone and hear their stories. That morning was also our flash fitmob! Margo from Nacho Mama had been secretly putting this all together with a handful of us bloggers. Then on Saturday morning, we got to strut our stuff in the middle of the expo area. You can’t see me, but I’m way in the back. I was in the middle of trying out the Total Gym when it started to go down. It was too much fun!
There was free time on Saturday, so I met up with a Instagram follower from the area for lunch. Caity was super adorbs in person with her pink hair! She’s also a fellow Turbo Fire chick! Woo! I love meeting people who are inspired by me!
Saturday night was the big goodbye reception. More fun with everyone, including dancing.
I was also told by Sarah that when she sees me, she sees success. I cannot express how much that meant to me. Sarah has lost a lot of weight herself (200lbs) and has kept it off for over 8 years. So to hear someone say that they know you’re going to be successful when they’ve had success themselves, it’s something you take and carry with you.
Sunday morning was more goodbyes and tears. Then I was on my way to pick up Mr. B for our whirlwind tour of the Pacific Northwest!
