December Coffee Date

Hey there! It has been quite some time since we’ve sat down to have a chat! Life has gotten crazy over the last month and I haven’t had a chance to focus on much but my family and work. I’m glad that we can take some time today to enjoy each other’s company!

How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was a wonderful time spent with family. My sister and brother-in-law hosted this year at their new house. I was in charge of the stuffing and green bean casserole, which turned out pretty well if I do say so myself. My sister did a great job with the turkey considering it was her first time making one. I made sure she got out the bag of extra parts. Haha. There was a lot of food and of course delicious desserts! The Sunday after Thanksgiving was spent with Mr. B’s family. It was a little rough for us not to be in Jamaica this year! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I brought a wonderful brussels sprouts salad that I cannot wait to make again! It was easy too with the help of my food processor to do the shredding for me! More importantly that the food though, was the time for family and all that we have to be grateful for in our lives. I hope that you have a lot to be grateful for this year as well!

Now that Thanksgiving is past, we can start thinking about Christmas! We got our tree up last weekend and I think this may be the first year I didn’t have room for all of my Rudolph ornaments. I counted what I have and I’m almost to 60! It’s time I just get another tree to dedicate just the Rudolph. ๐Ÿ™‚ I absolutely love getting them out every year and adding the latest additions to the tree. Mr. B and I were also talking that we would like to start getting a real tree. I think it would be fun to go out and cut one down, even though I know they can be a pain to deal with once they’re home. Our artificial one has seen much better days! Are you a real tree or artificial tree type?

Work is starting to get a little crazy in Weight Watchers land! We launched Beyond the Scale this week which includes the new SmartPoints plan. I’ve known about this for months and am SO excited that I can finally talk about it now! I really do love the direction things are going and cannot wait to share it with everyone in the meeting room. Although, I will admit I am a little nervous because I know change is scary and I’m not 100% sure how members will react. My plan is just to be there for them and support them in any way I can! I also plan on telling you more when I get done with leading my meetings this week. I think you’ll really like it as well! I can’t remember if you’re a fellow Weight Watcher or not, if so, how do you feel about the changes?

Speaking of things being crazy, this time of year seems to always be one of the craziest. I think that a lot of people seem to get lost in the shuffle and forget to take care of themselves. I noticed I was starting to slip into the trend myself. I’ve begun to reverse it though and while there’s room for improvement, it is better than it has been. One thing I’ve really been slacking on is moving my body! Since it started to get a bit colder here, it isn’t always easy to get out and go for walks. I did purchase a couple of Walk Away the Pounds dvds the other week and plan on putting those into regular rotation to start getting my steps in again! I don’t know why, but activity seems to always be the first thing that slips off my plate. What are you doing to make sure you are taking care of yourself right now?

Well look at the time! I’ve got to start getting ready for my full work day! It was great to catch up! Let’s not make it such a long wait next time!!

    My meeting isn’t until Wednesday so I don’t know all the ends and outs of the new program; but I’m kind of in a rut and could use the change, BUT the app/website not working is really making me consider to cancel all together and the canned answer of “use pen & paper” is insulting….I’m paying much much more than they did in the pen & paper days and there is no excuse for how this has all happened. This morning everything worked, now everything is down again and they are saying it could be days before it’s working again (if that). WW has really failed this time around.

      As a WW employee, what I will do is to encourage you to hang on tight during the Smart Points launch. All app and website users have been experiencing difficulty since Smart Points was launched on 12/6. The WW tech team has been working diligently to address all tech problems. It has been frustrating for me as well tech wise, but the new plan is worth it.

    Artificial tree for us. We travel over the holidays so there’s no way a real one would stay alive!

    I need to see if the library has the DVDs for when we do travel. No gym memberships + Illinois winters mean indoor workouts for me!

  • We used to be real tree people, but no one wanted to water or clean up the pine needles, so now we stick to artificial, which is our front porch tree since we moved to a smaller house.
    I love the walk away the pounds program. I used to do it twice a day in high school (Did one month of the one-mile, a month of the two mile, and a month of the three mile twice a day). It’s a great workout! And Leslie is so positive and goofy!

  • I get to learn all about the changes on Saturday, but from what I’ve read so far, I think I like it! Change is always scary, and I’m sure plenty of members will gripe about it, but I think it will be a very good change in the long run. I’ve been losing weight very slowly, and I’m kind of hoping that my weight loss will pick up with SmartPoints.

    We currently have an artificial tree, but much prefer a real tree; our place is just so small right now, we have no space for a larger tree!

  • I’ve been following SmartPoints for about a week and a half now and really like it. It does require some adjustment, but it has been fine. I’m at goal, but wouldn’t mine losing a few pounds. I’ve been on a plateau, but have been losing since I started SmartPoints. I already ate pretty healthy so this isn’t a huge difference for me but I do have to think about things more carefully. I get 30 points (in losing mode) and 28 weekly points. The biggest issue for me has been that sometimes I find it hard to get to my minimum of 30. Most foods I eat haven’t really increased in points that much (I don’t eat a lot of sugar and I eat no beef). So, I will eat something that was, say, 27 PointsPlus and it ends up being 28 SmartPoints. On PointsPlus I would be fine. With SmartPoints I’m supposed to find another two points to eat. On days I go out to eat, no problem. On days, I stay at home it can be challenging to get to the 30. I sort of feel that the minimum of 30 may be fine for someone who eats more sugar than I do. But as someone who doesn’t eat a lot of sugar it is a little tougher to get to. That is a minor complaint, though. Overall I really like the program and think it is far more nutritionally healthy.

    I’m not sure about the new system for me. My popcorn is 0 points and I’ve found that I gain with popcorn. I may have to get rid of that. I’m in the middle of deciding to stay with it or do the old plan on my own.

    • Thank you! And yes, she is. We’re due 5 days apart. haha. My parents are quite excited! It’s going to be an exciting summer as 2 of my cousin’s wives are also pregnant. ๐Ÿ™‚
