My Word for 2015

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a fun one! We sure did here in the Not On a Diet household! We had friends over and partied like it was 2005. When waking up yesterday I was promptly reminded that even though I can party like it is 2005, I cannot recover from a night of drinking the same way. I spent much of the day on the couch in my pajamas with a headache.

Today, well it is a brand new day and I’m feeling much better! ๐Ÿ™‚

With it being a new year and all, I like many of you out there like to sit down and set some goals for the year. I’ve done this in the past many times and 99% of the time I forget about the goals I set before February hits. Then come December 31st, I’m mad I didn’t accomplish all that I wanted to. This year instead of writing down all the goals, I’ve come up with a word for 2015.

My word:

Create_2015

This word fits into a lot of different aspects of my life. I want to create more time for friends & family, create more crafty things, create more challenges for you guys, create my dream career, and other things.

I plan on going back to posting monthly goals and even weekly goals for myself that pertain to that word throughout the year. Doing so will help keep me on track and give me certain things to strive for. Goals work for me when I make them attainable and still try to push out of my comfort zone. As they do for most people. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My goals for January:

– Date night with Mr. B
– Write 5,000 words (blog posts, e-book, for fun)
– Girl’s day with mom and sister
– Cross off book(s) on PopSugar’s Reading Challenge
– Attend social event (exercise class, knitting group, etc)
– Make 2 handmade cards
– Finish a knitting WIP
– Hit 10,000 with my FitBit 5 times

I think that 2015 is going to be a great year and I cannot wait to see all of the things I create in my life!

Are you a goal setter or do you pick a word for the year?

What some big things you want to accomplish in 2015?

Also, don’t forget I’m hosting a DietBet starting on Monday!

  • Thanks for stopping by my blog! I *love* your word for 2015 and, regarding your comment on my blog, totally agree with you about the mindless time on FB. That’s definitely one of the things I’m working as as part of my word of the year goal, too!

    • It is unreal how much time I spend on FB looking at other’s lives, when I could be living my own. Or even reaching out to those people beyond a “like” or comment.

Here’s to a year with less FB! ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t usually comment on blogs, but you hooked me. With “Create” and with the PopSugarโ€™s Reading Challenge, attend a social event, Make 2 handmade cards (I paint when inspired individual birthday cards and a painting for Christmas card), I have a million knitting WIP, and hitting 10,000 with my FitBit 5 times in one month would be a joy. All such things are possible with my new free time resulting from my retirement effective today and my goals are: actually do my planned training for triathlons and learn to actually ride that new road bike and to do the breaststroke; finish the “required” baby quits and blankets and get working on the “wish to do” art quilts and quilts for me; finish all those knitting projects, especially the ones for me; learn Saori weaving and take the tapestry class and finish the weaving project on the loom and the two sets of place mates; take the watercolor class; travel to Boston (to learn to ski or try to learn to ski), Baton Rouge, Chicago, California/Oregon (these are all trips to visit or take family/friends), and Hawaii; learn to bake. While these are year long and beyond goals, they are what inspired me to retire – getting the time to do them.

    • Well it sounds like you will not be bored with retirement! ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy it all!

I really want to learn to ski as well. It is one of Mr. B’s favorite activities and he has been promising me lessons ever since we met. Lol. No time like the present! ๐Ÿ™‚

Love your word – and how you can apply it to so many facets! I’ve yet to choose one, and I’m not really sure I will this year. We shall see! Good luck and I hope you CREATE yourself an awesome year!

I chose SIMPLICITY as my word for this year. I am not super working on simplifying my life yet, but I am hoping to do some parts of the Subtraction Project to help with that.

I am a new reader…I found you via Emmie’s blog. I am excited to read more of what you have to say!

    • I like your word! Simplifying is something I need to do in my life! I have too much stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by! ๐Ÿ™‚
