The Walking Ched and Getting Back On Track

Today is my first full week back at work. First week where there’s not a wedding, honeymoon, or family vacation going on. Today is also the first day in three weeks where I’m not in the ‘vacation’ mindset. Especially with my eating.

The last few weeks have been completely off track. The week of the wedding I don’t think we ate one meal at home, then we were on our honeymoon where we just ate what we wanted and drank what we wanted. (It has been weird not starting the day off with a mudslide. Lol) Then this last week I’ve just been in the thought that I’m still on vacation. And then this weekend we went on a family vacation with my family to Adventureland. Which was filled with more not so wise food choices….such as The Walking Ched from Zombie Burger and Drink Lab in Des Moines.

Yes…that is a burger where the bun is fried mac and cheese and it’s topped with more mac and cheese, bacon, and carmelized onions. Not exactly Weight Watchers friendly, but crazy freaking delicious!

Needless to say I’ve been waaaaay off track…in fact I can’t even remember the last time I tracked what I ate. I know it has been at least a month if not more. And I haven’t been to a WW meeting in that long either.

Today was the first day of getting back at it. As always I start off with a small goal. Today it was drinking a gallon of water and focusing on filling foods. Breakfast was my regular dose of oatmeal and lunch was a salad topped with tuna. Dinner was a recipe experiment, which turned out to be a success!

Mr. B and I made our first grilled pizza! Yesterday on our way back from vacation, we stopped at a Trader Joe’s and I picked up some pizza dough. We grilled some pineapple and canadian bacon to top our pizza, then grilled the dough. The flip was a ill messy, but the final product turned out delicious!

We will be perfecting it soon! Have you grilled pizza before?

So all in all today was a good day back on track. I hit up the grocery store after work, so we’re loaded up on the good stuff! Now to get back into a fitness routine!

What small goals are you working on this week?

I’ve always wanted to try grilling pizza. Looks awesome! :D

Glad to see you back on track, friend! Round two of bootcamp starts on Monday, you in? I think it’s going to be great for me to get back in the habit of working out. I can’t remember the last time I was active for 5-6 days a week. Woo!!

    Love ya!

I’ve started walking our dog every morning before 7 am. We both enjoy it – the dog and me, that is! Nice to get our exercise out the way first thing in the morning, especially with it being so hot! You’ll get back on track now that your live is ‘normal’ again!!

Great job getting back on track! I just started using the Lose It app again to help me track my food. Hopefully it helps!

Keep us posted as to how you do in getting back on track. I know how tough it is as I’m going through the same process right now. I’ve let myself slip off lately, and taken liberties and justified it by saying things like, “It’s the 4th of July,” or “It’s summer,” or just…. “I’m hungry!”
We did get a new bulldog puppy and I’m hoping she will eventually be able to go on walks with me. Perhaps that will be the impetus for me to start my walking routine again. I’ve been so bad lately about getting out there walking! Again with the excuses, “It’s too HOT!” is the main one I’ve been using.
You have certainly had better excuses to get off track than me–my gosh–if you can’t celebrate on a honeymoon–where can you celebrate?
Good luck to us both in getting back on track so we get back in the losing mode, instead of the gaining mode!

OMG…that macaroni thing! There was a time when I’d go for something like that but now I think it would wreck my old digestive system. There is something to be said for getting old(er) and that is that your system (well at least mine) can’t deal with food like that. ::::shaking my cane:::: LOL

The grilled pizza sounds wonderful but flipping it must be an art.

That macaroni bun is out of control! I’m a big fan of grilled pizza – my family usually makes it with lots of veggies on top and it always turns out great.

Yep, I know about being off track, I’ve been there these last few weeks too and I don’t have the excuse of a wedding and honeymoon though!

Love your small goals – you’ll get back in the groove in no time.

I buy unglazed quarry tiles (found at Menard’s for .99 cents each). They keep the heat well – I have the tiles on the hot side of the grill and I have a cool side.

I oil one side of the dough, place that face down, then once it starts to bubble and get a little browned on the bottom, that’s when I flip it, add my ingredients, and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes.

THEN it goes to the cool side so the residual heat melts the cheese and I start on the second pizza. I am all about the individual pizzas!

Still so happy for you guys!
