Proud

There’s a lot going on in my life right now…but tonight I’m going to focus on the positive. Because it is the only thing that’s going to get me through all of this.

If you’ve been a reader for awhile, then you know that B-Fry is a hockey player. He’s played pretty much his whole life, including college. And as with anyone who plays a sport, they have the dream of someday going professional. Well, B-Fry is no different.

A week ago B-Fry called me all excited. Our local CHL team, the Quad City Mallards were going to be holding an open tryout on Sunday. He was going to tryout! So I dealt with a very pumped up B-Fry and endured a lot of hockey related things until Sunday. Including the last 20 minutes of Miracle. :)

Sunday’s open tryout was awesome. B-Fry did super well and had a pretty kick ass top shelf goal! His stepdad (who knows about hockey) said that he thought B-Fry was definitely in the top three from what he was seeing. This was great news because they were to only pick 3 players to move on to training camp with the Mallards.

The tryout was over and B-Fry’s parents, my brother, and I ‘patiently’ waited for B-Fry to get out of the locker room. After about 30+ minutes, he finally came out. And he had a pretty big smile on his face!

HE MADE IT!

He was going to move on and practice with the ‘real’ team and fight for a spot to play in the Mallards’ preseason game on Saturday the 15th!

Sunday night B-Fry was on a local news station with a pretty awesome interview and on Monday morning he made the front page of the Quad City Times sports section!

Here’s him on TV! That’s him in the beginning and he’s Zach Birmingham in the interview part. (Ya, I just revealed B-Fry’s REAL name! lol)

And here’s his QC Times article! And the video from QC Times too!!

And one last video from the radio guys, Dwyer and Michaels who sponsored the tryout! The number 8 the coach mentions halfway through the video is B-Fry!

Pretty awesome stuff!!

Last night was the first scrimmage and B-Fry did awesome again. He really kept up with the actual team!

Here are a few pictures from last night!

My hotass hockey player!

Knocking a guy into the boards!

He scrimmages again tonight at 8pm and tomorrow at 3pm! He’s nervous and so am I! I know that he is very well capable and is awesome on skates! Watching him play is something pretty amazing.

I’m super proud that he is doing this. I know that this is a dream of his and he is chasing it. It makes me really take a step back and think about my dreams and what I wanna do.

I know I’ve said this a million and one times, but I love him more than anything!

Send some positive vibes our way! And I’ll keep you updated! We should know soon if he will be playing in Saturday’s game. HE WILL BE PLAYING! I’ve got a super good feeling about this!

UPDATE: B-Fry got cut tonight. :( Still soooo freaking proud of him though!

Psst Zach- I love you! <3, your #1 fan.
