Weekly Weigh In: Surviving the Holidays Edition!

Starting Weight: 327.6
Current Weight: 202.6
Last Week: 204.0
Loss/Gain: -1.4
Total Loss: 125lbs

Well as you can see, I finally hit 125lbs lost, so that’s pretty darn exciting! And I’m inching even closer to onederland! So close I can see it on the scale!

Now I only have one more official Weight Watchers weigh in before the new year, so I must be On Plan all week this week and get some activity in if I’m going to hit my goal of being under 200lbs before 2011 hits. Of course this week also happens to be Christmas week. EEK!

So I’ve decided that I need to come up with some plan to make sure I hit my goal before the year is out. Let’s face it, it’s not going to be easy. There will plenty of temptations around. The worst being the homemade German Chocolate cake B-Fry’s mom and I will be making. I will do my best to handle these temptations, I promise.

Anyways, my top Holiday Survival Tips are as follows:

- Make Islands, Not continents: This may be one of my favorite tips I ever have received at a meeting. The idea is you make small portions of food on your plate, not huge mounds of it. Take a little to taste of things you truly can’t live without. (ie: German Chocolate Cake)

- Treat the day like any other day: Don’t go crazy with the food just because it’s a holiday. It’s no excuse to throw everything you’ve been doing the last few months out the window. Chances are you’ll gain and then you’ll be spending the new year undoing the damages.

- If you must, indulge, but don’t over do it: I do plan on having a piece of that cake, but I’m not going to have a piece of cake, cookies, candy, and whatever else I can get my hands on. Everything is good in moderation.

- Earn some Activity Points: Now is not the time to give up those workouts. You’re going to need those extra points for that cake or cookies. Plus, you’ll feel a million times better if you workout. Especially now if you’re stressed out due to the holidays.

- Load up on free fruits and veggies: I bet that wherever your celebration is, there will be a fruit or veggie tray. Thankfully on the new PointsPlus program, these things have 0 P+ value. So load up, but remember to pair them with a lean protein or something of that nature. And eating the fruits and veggies will make you feel more full and will stop you from eating the whole German Chocolate Cake!

- Bring a dish: If you’re going somewhere, ask if you can bring something. Then make something you know the PointsPlus value for. Now you know there will be a least 3 things you can eat safely!

- Use your Weekly PointsPlus Allowance: It’s there for special occasions, use it!

There are my tips for all of you! I plan on putting these into full force! I will be sure to let you know how amazing that German Chocolate Cake is. :)

What are your top tips for the holidays?

PS: Did you guys see that Mr. David Kirchhoff stopped in at BitchCakes meeting?! I’m quite jealous!!

Weekly Weigh In: PointPlus Edition

Starting Weight: 327.6
Current Weight: 204.0
Last Week: 204.2
Loss/Gain: -0.2
Total Loss: 123.6lbs

I’m sure you’ve all heard that Weight Watchers has recently changed up their program. There has been a lot of talk about it over on Twitter and so far from what I can tell, everyone is enjoying the new program.

I’m personally in love with it. I think it makes a lot more sense than the old program when it comes to figuring points for foods. Before they calculated using calories, fat, and fiber. Now they calculate them using fat, fiber, carbs, and protein. Obviously if it has higher fiber and protein content, the lower the PointsPlus. This is because protein and fiber keep you satisfied longer.

Another major change is that fruits and most veggies are 0 PointsPlus value. This is my FAVORITE change! Before fruit had points and sometimes had more points than foods that weren’t too good for you. On the old plan I would find myself eating a Fiber One Bar instead of a banana because the bar had 1pt and the banana had 2-3pts. Now that they are 0 PointsPlus, I am more likely to grab it as a snack. I don’t know if I’ve ever eaten so many bananas! Haha.

Other changes are that you get more PointsPlus value a day and you also get more Weekly PointsPlus value every week. This is because food has gone up in PointsPlus value due to the new way to calculate. I do find it hard to eat all my PointsPlus a day. I’m sure this will change as I’m on the program more. I just need to find more foods that work into the plan with higher values now. I’m sure I’ll soon think I don’t have enough PointsPlus. Lol.

That’s the new program in a nutshell. Like I said before, I’m really enjoying it. If you’re a Weight Watcher, what do you think of the new program? Likes….dislikes….any new food finds?

Also, I’m soooo close to hitting 199.9!! EEEK!!

Weekly Weigh In: Sorry it’s late edition!

Starting Weight: 327.6
Current Weight: 204.2
Last Week: 205.8
Loss/Gain: -1.6
Total Loss: 123.4lbs

So, I’m in TOTAL love with the new Weight Watchers PointsPlus program! It is simply awesome and makes so much more sense than the old one. I’m working on a review of the new program, so look for that soon!

My mission for getting under 200lbs before the year is out is going quite well! I’ve been doing good with my goals! I haven’t had a pop since the first of the month and I’m not missing it too much. I do crave a Diet Dr. Pepper every so often, but I haven’t caved at all. So go me! Working out is tough, working two jobs and all. But I do a lot of walking at Old Navy, so I do count that as some activity. B-Fry and I got a Wii last weekend, and stole Wii Fit from his parents so I plan on doing that. It’s been awhile since I’ve done the Wii Fit and it was something I always enjoyed. I’ll be looking forward to getting back to that.

I was interviewed by our local newspaper last week. The interview was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed talking to Deirdre. The interview was totally relaxed and I loved talking about my weight loss. :) Then just this past Thursday they sent over a photographer to take pictures of me while working out. I must say, that’s the first time I’ve ever showered and put on makeup before working out. Haha. The photographer was awesome, and I hope she got some decent shots of me. Lol. She also did a video interview of me that will be online the same day I’m in the paper. Which will be on December 31st, so be sure to check out http://qctimes.com that day! I’ll be sure to remind you all!

So, this post was sort of all over the place and quite late! I apologize!! Life keeps me busy!

Hope all is well in your world!
