Birthday Recap

I had an AMAZING birthday weekend. Probably my best yet!

Saturday I got off work and was craving a donut, so I headed to the grocery store. I was greeted by the Starbucks stand right inside the store, so I went ahead and got myself a Vanilla Bean Frap. (yum!) I made my way to the donuts and picked up a creme filled one and an apple fritter (my fave). I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a donut, but it was a great birthday treat. :o ) I also picked up my favorite wine because it was only $4.50 a bottle. WOOT!

I went home and enjoyed my donut and frap before heading to bed for a few hours. Once awake, I went on a mad cleaning spree. Not exactly what I wanted to do, but it needed to be done and I was glad to get it out of the way. I got done cleaning just in time to hop in the shower and get ready for an evening with the B-Fry.

I had bought a new dress for the occassion and couldn’t wait to wear it. (I absolutely LOVE wearing dresses now.) It was a little more short than I’m used to wearing and I really wanted to throw on a pair of leggings, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and just go for it! I’m glad I did! :o )

I never got a good picture of me in my dress, so this cell phone one will have to do.

Looking Quite Cute!

Finally 5:00 came around and I was greeted with my favorite flower as I opened the door.

Beautiful Gerber Daisy Plant

The B-Fry asked me to come downstairs, that my other surprise was in the car. I followed him down and he opened the hatch to his Jeep to show me that he had bought groceries and brought over his grill to make me my birthday dinner! :-D I’ve never had a guy cook me dinner, so I was quite excited about this.

On the menu: Salad, Salmon, Shrimp Skewers, Asparagus, and Potatoes. He grilled it all but the salad (of course). It was really hard for me to just sit there and let him do all the work. But I did so while I enjoyed a few glasses of my favorite wine.

Dinner was amazingly delicious! The B-Fry can cook!! After dinner we headed to Cold Stone to pick up the cake my sister had made for me. It was yellow cake with oatmeal cookie ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough and reeses pieces mixed in. It was soooooo good!

Happy Birthday To Me!

The evening ended with a Bob Marley martini at my favorite bar. It was a perfect ending to an awesome birthday!!

Oh and my birthday present from the B-Fry….

A weekend in my favorite city, Chicago! We’re taking the train up on Saturday August 7th and doing touristy things. Then on Sunday, we’re going to Lollapalooza! I’m rather pumped!! Then another day in the city on Monday before taking the train home. Must say he did amazingly well with the birthday present. I will be keeping him around. ;o)

Sunday we went to the zoo and got quite a bit of sun. Then, we had dinner at my parent’s house for my birthday and he got to meet them. It went super well and my mom adores him. :o )

Like I said before it was a really great weekend and I can already tell that 25 is going to be a friggin amazing year!!

Here’s some other pictures from the weekend:

I know I didn’t have the best weekend foodwise, but I’m okay with that. Like I said before, this is a lifestyle and I’m going to live a little when it comes to my birthday. Today I’m back on track and have downed a gallon of water already! I’m interested to see the damages on the scale tomorrow. They probably won’t be as bad as I think.

Oh, the results of my Birthday Challenge:

37.5 Miles!

Thanks to all of you who participate!! I will keep you all updated to how it’s going!

Also, thanks for all the great birthday wishes! You guys rock!! :o )

Happy Birthday To Me! And A Birthday Challenge!

Today is my birthday.

I’m officially a quarter of a century old.

I love it!

If you haven’t noticed, I’m all about birthdays. I love celebrating mine!

A lot has changed in the last year and I couldn’t be more happy with the changes.

I’m healthier which is what I’m most proud of.

I’m 70lbs thinner.

I have more confidence than I ever have in my life.

I’ve become more outgoing.

I’ve just had a great year.

This year is going to be better. I have decided that 25 is going to be my best year yet. And it will be. I can pretty much promise that!

Things I want to accomplish in my 25th year:

* Buy a DSLR Camera
* Go on an awesome vacation
* Do a 365 picture project
* Hit my goal weight
* Go on a road trip
* See mountains
* Try a new recipe every month

I will be living life to the fullest and it will be epically awesome!

On to other things….healthy living things….

Now, I’ve been slacking in the exercise department. So I’ve decided to do a comment challenge. Jewlia did one and is now going to walk/run/bike 102 miles before the end of the month.

So, I’ve been thinking of something I can do. And I will be doing a challenge similar to Jewlia’s and having my comments equal mileage.

The specifics:

* For every comment on my blog I will walk/run/skip/dance/strut a mile

* For every tweet about my challenge on Twitter I will do 1/2 mile

* Only 5 comments and 5 tweets per person. I don’t want things to get too crazy.

* All comments and tweets need to be in by Sunday July 25th 11:59pm, Central time.

* I must complete the mileage by August 24th.

Comment and tweet away!! (Hoping I don’t regret this. Haha)

Wow….this post was really all over the place. Sorry, my mind is currently thinking of what the B-Fry could possibly have planned for my birthday. It’s a surprise and it’s killing me. Haha.

Oh, and meeting his parents went awesomely well. :o ) They adore me….of course. Hehe.

Well I’m off to sit at work and wait for 7am to get here!!

Birthday Week

In case you haven’t heard, Saturday is my birthday. I’m going to be the awesome age of 25! Some people get bummed about getting older, I get excited. To me it’s another year of life I lived. I’ve already decided that my 25th year will be my best year yet. I feel like amazing things are going to happen. :o )

Well, I’ve declared it my birthday week this week.

Yes, I can do that.

Since declaring it my birthday week I have for some reason decided that I could throw healthy eating out the window. Well I did yesterday at least.

Breakfast went well, but then my brother called to go get lunch. This never happens, so I jumped at the opportunity. I could have ordered something more healthy, but I didn’t. I had a yummy turkey ruben sandwich and french fries.

Then there was cake in the fridge. Tuesday was my sister’s last day at Cold Stone and the day my birthday present from her arrived. So we declared it a special day. We got a cake that said: Happy Last Day and Brooke’s Bday Present Day. Well, I told myself I’d just have the slice of cake on Tuesday and wouldn’t touch it again.

Ya…didn’t happen. I ended up having a piece around 5. Not gonna lie, it was amazingly delicious.

I went to a Mary Kay party and was pampered. Came home and made myself a taco salad. A rather healthy choice for me.

Then there was the Cold Stone cupcake. My sis brought them home on her last day because they were just going to throw them out.

So I had one. Again….amazingly delicious.

Not a horrible day, but it’s only the first of a few……

Tonight I’m going out to dinner to meet the B-Fry’s parents. I’m going to try to make a healthy choice, but it’s a restaurant I’ve never been to and they don’t have a website. So, I’ll be going in there blind.

Sidenote: I’m extremely nervous to meet the B-Fry’s parents. I’ve never met a guy’s parents before. I hope I don’t vomit. Haha

Saturday is my actually birthday (woot) and the B-Fry has a whole evening planned. I have NO IDEA what is going down. I’ve been trying all week, but he’s offering nothing. Boo hiss. Things I do know, there will be dinner out involved and a birthday cake from Cold Stone. (Are you seeing that Cold Stone is the enemy?)

Sunday is my birthday dinner with the family. Burgers and chicken wings on the grill with fruit. Oh and ANOTHER cake. Red velvet this time, it’s my favorite.

As you can see there’s a lot of not so healthy eating in the immediate future. I was going to stress out about it. But why should I? As my blog says: I’m NOT on a diet. I’m allowed to live life and enjoy things I wouldn’t normally eat.

It’s my birthday week for gosh sakes!! :o )

So, I’m going to enjoy it this week because it does only happen once a year. I’m not going to feel guilty because in my opinion you should never feel guilty about eating food. I’m going to enjoy it now and kick my butt into gear on Monday.

For now I’m trying to avoid having cake for breakfast. :o )
